Reasi police crack Charan Paduka temple cash theft case; three accused arrested

REASI, Oct 8: Reasi Police have successfully solved a cash theft case reported from Charan Paduka Temple, Banganga, with the arrest of three accused persons and recovery of the stolen cash.
The case pertains to a complaint lodged on 29.09.2026 by Janak Singh S/o Sobha Ram R/o Purana Daroor, Katra, regarding theft of cash from the cash room of Charan Paduka Temple, Banganga. Accordingly, FIR No. 309/2026 under Sections 3(5)/61(2)/305/331(4) BNS was registered at Police Station Katra and investigation was initiated.
During investigation, the police team worked on multiple leads and utilised technical surveillance, CCTV footage and witness examination to identify the persons involved. The sustained investigation led to the arrest of the main accused, Lakhvinder Singh S/o Dhanetar Singh R/o Nakki Majalta, Udhampur.
During questioning, his disclosures provided crucial leads, following which Pujari Surjeet Kumar S/o Jaipal Sharma R/o Dasanu, Reasi, and pony operator Krishan Lal S/o Vijay Ram R/o Ponsali Salal, Reasi, were also arrested.
Acting upon the disclosures and leads developed during investigation, the stolen cash was subsequently recovered from the Banganga area.
The successful detection of the case highlights the effectiveness of professional investigation, technical surveillance and coordinated police efforts in safeguarding places of religious importance and bringing offenders to justice.
Further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events and ascertain the role of all persons involved.
