Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 4: The announcement of the veteran and enraged National Conference leader Mubarak Gul to defer his much-awaited media interaction at the eleventh hour on Wednesday is an indication that efforts initiated by the party leaders to placate the annoyed leaders yield some encouraging results.
As reported earlier by the Early Times, former Chief Minister and president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Dr. Farooq Abdullah has himself taken the charge to pacify the annoyed party MLAs.
On the one hand, Mubarak Gul deferred his press conference while on the other hand, Independent MLA from Surankote, Choudhary Mohammad Akram reaffairmed to continue support to Omar Abdullah.
Annoyed over denying ministerial berth during reshuffle of Omar Abdullah government on October 27, Mubarak Gul had announced to reveal future course of action on November 4.
It was widely believed that Mubarak Gul would make some announcement on November 4 against the party leadership, but the veteran leader preferred to maintain a guarded silence.
“I am a fighter, and I will continue to fight for my right. Today I convened a meeting of my workers. Earlier, a simila

meeting was held on October 27”, Mubarak Gul said while announcing to defer his press conference.
In another development, an independent MLA from Surankote, Choudhary Mohammed Akram, has reaffirmed his support for the Omar Abdullah-led government, dismissing reports suggesting differences with the ruling dispensation or any possibility of distancing himself from it.
Reacting to reports linking his name with alleged political disagreements within the government, Akram said he had no connection with the developments being reported and expressed displeasure over what he described as unnecessary attempts by certain media organisations to drag his name into unrelated matters.
“I stand with the government, and it is very unfortunate that some media houses are unnecessarily dragging my name into unrelated matters,” Akram said.
He categorically ruled out any disagreement or disassociation with the Omar Abdullah-led government, asserting that there was no question of going back on his commitments.
Akram’s clarification comes amid reports of alleged differences within the ruling dispensation, with the legislator seeking to put speculation about his political position to rest.
