Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 12: The Union government's announcement of relief of Rs. 5.5 Lakhs to left out 5300 Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) refugee families has created confusion as according to the announcement, the relief would only be disbursed to those, who had resettled to Jammu and Kashmir and if go by such order, the 5300 families will not benefited as they are still settled in other states. According to the announcement made by Union Minister Prakash Javedkar, which was widely published across media channels, it reads, "Union Cabinet approved a one-time payment of Rs 5.5 lakh as a resettlement package for the 5,300 displaced families which had come from POK after partition and initially settled outside Jammu and Kashmir but later relocated to the State". Though some section of Refugees has welcomed the announcement but some have raised questions over the language of the announcement. Sources said that in the PRO Office Jammu, over 450 applications of POK refugees were pending who were not covered under the previous package, announced in year 2016. "That package was ...

Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 12: Even as the authorities announced dates for 10th and 12th class annual examinations, the students have demanded concessions. A group of students accompanied by their parents told Early Times that only 46% of the syllabus was completed till August 5 when life came to a standstill in the state in view of the revocation of article 35A and 370 of the constitution of India which conferred special status on the state. More than 200 people test positive for dengue in J&K

Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 12: As many as 222 people have been tested positive for dengue in Jammu and Kashmir this year, a health department official said on Saturday, asserting that there is no need to panic as necessary measures are in place to deal with the vector-borne disease. Last year, the total number of dengue patients in the state was 214, while no one has died due to the disease in the last four years, the official said. At 75, Jammu district accounted for the maximum cases followed by Samba (73), Kathua (24) and Rajouri (22).
