Finance deptt's order contradicts Govt claims
Rs 9,000 cr liability, a reality or hoax?
6/16/2015 11:59:37 PM
Peerzada Ummer Early Times Report Srinagar, June 16: Since the day PDP-BJP government assumed office in J&K three months ago, it has been claiming that there is a Rs 9000 crore liability of the previous government. But an order issued by the Finance department last month contradicts the government's claim. The order (PD/2011-2012/ Coord-101-01-A) issued on May 13 asked all the departments to come up with details of the previous liabilities. It also asked the heads of the departments to come up with detailed expenditure incurred over various works executed during the tenure of the previous regime. The order has not only put question marks over the claims of the government but it has also indicated a non-serious approach of the ministers while liberally quoting figures (which nowhere exist?) in public. Also, one is tempted to ask the government whether it is being misled by the Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu, as he too quoted the 9000 crore figure on April 27 this year? The government at that time had said that management of finances is a "big challenge." Meanwhile, reports say t...

BJP high command has already agreed to give PDP one berth in the union ministry . Sources said even as PDP managed to win all the three LS seats in last year's Parliamentary polls, the party has not yet been able to translate this edge into benefit in terms of getting at least one of its MPs adjusted as Union minister. Over three months on, th...

6/16/2015 11:58:29 PM
Early Times Report baramulla, June 16: The ongoing cycle of violence in north Kashmir's Sopore town, in which six civilians have been shot dead by unidentified gunmen so far, has also taken away the charm of fashionable dressing among women in the region. From ladies jeans to skirts to even frocks for small girls, a variety of trending style-statement has vanished overnight from the markets. Such clothes are believed to be against the dress-code warning issued by an obscure outfit 'Tehreek-e-Taliban Jammu and Kashmir'. The group had a fortnight ago warned the people particularly women to "dress properly in accordance with tenets of Islam or face the music." Though initially the people di...

6/16/2015 11:57:53 PM

While one using his influence managed to turn his approved FIR case into Regular Departmental Action (RDA), the other became a scapegoat as the case recommended for RDA was turned into FIR. The tale of SVO succumbing to influence started in 2009 when it received a complaint that one IAS officer, now Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) posted somewhere in Jammu province, was allegedly involved in denting public exchequer worth lakhs of rupees. Then SSP Vigilance proved the case and sent it to the Central Vigilance Office for ap...

Early Times Report JAMMU, June 16: It was on Monday that the AIIMS Coordination Committee Jammu (ACCJ) for the first time launched what could be termed as a direct attack on the BJP and charged it with "betraying its Jammu constituency". "The BJP hoodwinked the struggling people of Jammu region by making contradictory statements on the issue of AIIMS. It is an irony that the party let down those who gave this party a massive mandate hoping that it would end the age old discrimination with them and hand down an administration that would help them compensate for the losses they suffered under the earlier Kashmiri dominated dispensations. No effort on the part of BJP would succeed in weaken...
