Early Times Report Srinagar, June 25: The Jammu and Kashmir chapter of the Bharatiya Janta Party is allegedly divided over the issue of support to Mayor in the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC). Sources said while a section of BJP leaders from Jammu and their like-minded in Kashmir were in support of the electing a new Mayor, a particular BJP leader from Kashmir was supporting the previous one. Sources said one of the senior leaders of BJP from Kashmir was in support of the previous mayor. Sources said the said BJP leader had been in contact with some of the SMC corporators personally known to him and wanted them to vote for the former mayor at the recently held floor test in Srinagar. EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, June 25: Amid spike in COVID-19 cases as well as deaths across the country including Jammu and Kashmir, the pregnant women employees are in a dilemma over joining their duties as no such order has so far been issued by government exempting them from duties. In the last week of May 2020, some district administrations had issued a circular, in which they had acknowledged the vulnerability of pregnant women to catch the infection and had directed the Drawing and Disbursing Officers of all departments to send the pregnant women on leave. EARLY TIMES REPORT Leh, Jun 25: As many as 84 more COVID-19 patients were released from quarantine after getting cured of the disease in Ladakh on Thursday, bringing down the number of the active cases in the union territory to 582, officials said. While 16 patients were discharged in Leh district, the rest 68 were discharged in Kargil district, they said. Agencies NEW DELHI, June 25: The CBI has registered a Preliminary Enquiry (PE) to probe allegations of land grabbing and corruption by an educational trust run by ex-Jammu and Kashmir minister Choudhary Lal Singh. The officials said that PE has been registered against R B Educational Trust of Kathua and unknown public servants to probe the allegations of illegal gratification and extraneous consideration by the revenue and forest officials of district Kathua in allowing sale and purchase of forest land. Agencies New Delhi, June 25: Amid the border tensions with China, the Centre has decided to focus on improving the infrastructure in the border areas of Ladakh.
