| Amid pandemic, frequent transfers turn GMC Jammu weak | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 7: While the winter capital of Jammu witnessed highest number of deaths due to the Covid19, “frequent transfers” in the healthcare system here are being seen as a major reason behind the crises in the City of Temples.
Official sources said while the Government Medical College Jammu remained the “biggest hospital” for treating Covid cases, the government preparedness towards the emergence of the second wave looked “non serious” at this crucial facility.
“As many as three principals and four other administrators at GMC Jammu have been transferred in around a year, how can you expect accountability in the system?” asked a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
He said if the government was serious to be prepared for the second wave of the pandemic, those at the helm should have been chosen with utmost caution so that frequent replacements were not needed.

Srinagar, June 7: The five bedded COVID-19 care centers set up in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district are being allegedly mismanaged.
It’s in place to mention here that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had announced setting up of these centres in every panchayat last month. He had directed the officials to ensure that these centers have the facilities that are needed to treat the suspected Covid cases. But it seems that officials are setting these centers just for the sake of formality.

Jammu, June 7: The 5-bedded Covid care centre set up at Panchayat Darsoo in Udhampur district has no water and electricity. Sarpanch of Panchayat Darsoo told Early Times that Anganwadi workers have reached here and staff has been deployed. “Beds have been put in place and the building is good but there is no water in washrooms and there is no electricity,” he said.
