Corrupt, 'Deadwood' on tenterhooks in J&K, new list on cards
Will PDP-BJP keep promise of cleansing admin?
7/16/2015 12:17:34 AM
Syed Junaid Hashmi Early Times Report JAMMU, July 15: PDP-BJP government began with a bang by forcibly retiring 63 officials both top and middle rung but now is seemingly finding it difficult to bring out the second list of the deadwood in the state administration. If the sources are to be believed, the list is very much available with the Chief Secretary Iqbal Khanday but there is no word from the state government whether to go ahead with making the list public or wait for some more time. They added that the first list has already created major upheaval all over the administrative and political set-up with several ministers, MLAs, MLCs and MPs complaining that their close relatives, family members and friends have been targeted without strong grounds and reasons. They have been saying that they should have been consulted before finalisation of the list and if that was not convenient for the government, a thorough background check should have been done before putting the officers in the deadwood list. Sources said that the new list which includes names of several prominent faces...

Abodh Sharma Early Times Report JAMMU, July 15: Monsoon rains in the last couple of weeks have exposed the vulnerability of the city and while rampant encroachments along the water channels are being blamed for the flooding of the low lying areas and the repeated loss of property, experts believe that total lack of a solid waste management policy is a major reason for the inundation. Eventhough environmentalists have time and again expressed grave concern over the manner in which Jammu Municipal Corporation has been disposing off tones of city's waste everyday and sought proactive intervention of the government, nothing has been done in years. According to the proposed petition, the Article was a constitutional...

Geelani, Mirwaiz, Malik
7/16/2015 12:16:43 AM
ET Report JAMMU, July 15: A few days ago, it appeared that separatists Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik had ironed out differences among them and they would speak in one voice as far as the Kashmir issue and its solution and attitude towards Pakistan were concerned. The reason was that they were together at the residence of Geelani and the occasion was an Iftaar party. They had also given an impression a number of times after April 15, 2015, that they would work in unison and the National Conference had hailed them for what called unity among them. However, things have changed after July 10, when the Indian and Pakistan Foreign Secretaries made a joint statement ...
