CM's bias against Jammu continues
Remains indifferent to deaths, devastation
9/4/2014 11:52:00 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 4: The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has done it again. He has again publicly displayed his biased behavior and attitude towards Jammu region. With more than 14 deaths in the Jammu region and more than 50 feared dead in a bus accident, Omar had confined himself to the Kashmir region. The Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is supervising the rescue operation in Kashmir, which too has suffered heavy loss because of the rains, but the death toll there is much less than in the Jammu region. Jammu region is geographically much vast and much diverse than the Kashmir region. The infrastructure development in remote areas are virtually non-existant and a pale shadow to ...

Jammu Politicians performing ideological somersaults to stay afloat
9/4/2014 11:51:35 PM
Bivek Mathur JAMMU, Sept 4: Whether it was unexpected joining of Lal Singh into BJP fold who was captured in a video comparing Modi with 'Gangu Teli' and Rahul Gandhi as 'Raja Bhoj' or rumours of Prof Chaman Lal Gupta's willingness to rejoin BJP or recent hints given by veteran leader Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma in a press conference in Kathua to explore other options if denied mandate on Congress ticket, whatever is the situation, the sum and substance is politicians have no ideology in Jammu and Kashmir. Be it political compulsion or political opportunism, senior politicians irrespective of party affiliations are switching sides and willing to adopt the ideologies which they always opposed. ...

BJP spokespersons lack coordination
9/4/2014 11:51:24 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 4: Though BJP has a battery of spokespersons who were appointed last month, there is total lack of coordination in party leadership with each spokesperson coming out with daily statements to score over the others. Earlier, the party had two spokespersons in the state unit but with eyes on coming Assembly elections BJP senior leaders announced seven spokespersons for the state unit last month. And to outwit each other every spokesman is coming out with daily statements making even difficult for the media to choose which to use and which not. According to sources, due to lack of coordination there are sometimes statements on same issue by two to three spoke...

Cong, NC a spent force in Kashmir
PDP's electoral chances
9/4/2014 11:51:13 PM
Rustam JAMMU, Sept 4: The PDP, which led in about 40 out of 46 Assembly segments in Kashmir in the Lok Sabha election, is likely to win maximum number of seats in the Valley. As for the Congress, it has little support-base. At best, it has some influence in a few pockets in 3 to 4 Assembly constituencies. It is virtually on the verge of extinction. It has no leader worth his name who could inspire confidence in the Congress' demoralized rank and file. Its leadership is divided into three groups, with their leaders pulling in different directions. But more than that, the people across the State describe Congress as the "B-team" of the Kashmiri parties, as it keeps all of them in a good humo...

Days of taking people of Jammu for a ride over
Preparing election manifestos
9/4/2014 11:51:00 PM
Neha JAMMU, Sept 4: Almost all the major political parties in the state have sappointed committees charged with the responsibility of preparing manifestos for the forthcoming Assembly elections. The four major parties are the ruling National Conference (NC) and the Congress and the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The reports suggest that the manifesto committees would submit their draft manifestos to their party leadership by the end of this month or latest by October 15. It is not difficult to imagine what the Kashmir-based parties and the Kashmir-centric parties would promise to their respective constituencies to win them over. They would...
