JAMMU, Sept 3: With state government maintaining a criminal silence over extremely slow pace of work, Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is yet to complete 5 critical roads being constructed by them in Jammu and Kashmir under centrally sponsored Prime Minister's Reconstruction Programme (PMRP).
Central Government had sanctioned 12 road projects for Jammu and Kashmir under centrally sponsored Rs.36439.32 crore Prime Minister's Reconstruction Programme (PMRP) in the year 2004. Of these 12 roads, 7 were awarded to Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for construction under central sector. 3 roads were awarded under state sector to Jammu and Kashmir government.
Of the three roads awarded to Jammu and Kashmir government under state sector, two have been completed while the third road stands completed physically but has not been officially declared as open. SRINAGAR, Sept 3: Panic gripped Raithan area in central Kashmir's Budgam district today when the stage on which Rural Development Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar was addressing people collapsed.
Witnesses said that people who had assembled there took it as a militant attack and ran for cover. "Journalists and the security men who were on the stage fell on each other triggering chaos and confusion. We thought militants have struck," said a witness.
