Early Times Report
nowshera, Apr 21: Land mafia has encroached over 200 kanal land at Makol Mandir in Sunderbani area adjacent to a Forest Check post on Dharpur road just under the nose of the DFO, giving locals the reason to believe that the encroachers enjoy the patronage of the forest officials.
The people of the area allege that encroachers have built a kuchha house in the midst of the encroached land and are felling the wood illegally.
Failing to evoke any response from the DFO concerned over the encroachment, people have now decided to appear before the conservator of forests to seek his intervention.
"DFO Nowshera is deliberately avoiding calls or a meeting with the people of the area as he is also alleged to be hand in glove with the perpetrators of the crime," said Bhushan Kumar , a resident of Dharpur village .
He said suspicious activities are daily noticed on the encroached land and alleged that some of the forestr guards in the department are also involved in facilitating the encroachers .
"How could anybody dare to encroach the government land adjacent to the forest check post and make a Kuchha house on it, " rued Banarsi Lal , another resident of the area .
The people of the area have directly accused the DFO Nowshera for encouraging encroachments on the forest land and have appealed to the minister concerned to immediately take action against the erring officer.
