| 'Sajad Lone as CM Candidate likely to doom party in Jammu' | | BJP mocked by Kashmiri politicians | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 10: Kashmir's political parties have put the BJP in a tight spot that too ahead of the elections over choosing Sajad Lone as party's chief ministerial candidate for the coming assembly elections.
As per the reports, BJP's decision to give undue importance to Sajad Lone who had two seats in the legislative assembly is proving counter- productive for the party as both PDP and NC are now targeting it over the issue.
On Monday, there were two back to back statements from PDP and NC over BJP's selection of chief ministerial candidate.
Former Minister and senior PDP leader Naeem Akhtar asked the BJP to explain why it ignored its 25 MLAs and selected a CM candidate from Kashmir who has mere 2 seats in the assembly.
He also questioned Dr Jitendra Singh's assertions, asking that if there was such a lack of trust in other parties of the state, the BJP should have selected its own CM candidate from the party itself. on the other hand, former chief minister and NC Vice President Omar Abdullah cornered the BJP over its choice of Chief Ministerial candidate.
"The BJPs bravado to have its own chief minister from Jammu fell flat twice, first by stitching alliance with 28-member PDP in 2015 and later while unsuccessfully attempting to form the government by surrendering before a party with two MLAs from North Kashmir", Omar Abdullah said while addressing NC District and Block Presidents and Secretaries of the Jammu region at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan.
"With which face the BJP will now go to the electors of Jammu in upcoming elections, who know that after seeking their mandate they will again fall in the trap and lap of a few MLAs from Kashmir to share the power", Omar Abdullah added.
Meanwhile, as per the sources within NC and PDP, there would be rigorous attempts by both the parties to target the BJP over undermining the democracy in the state by ignoring the voters in Jammu and chosing Kashmir's chief ministerial candidate for the polls.
"It was the big mistake that the BJP committed while choosing Sajad Lone as its face for the polls. It is going to prove counter productive for the party during the polls and such a decision has a tendency to aggrieve the voters of Jammu who now feel that they were deceived by the theatrics and are now left at the mercy of a party which has no base either in Kashmir or in Jammu," said a senior NC leader. |
