Mild Congress wave cause tremors in BJP in polls
12/12/2018 8:28:00 PM
If the poll results in five states are any indication it is a perfect win for the Congress except for Telengana and Mizoram. Already the poll pundits have predicted defeat for the BJP in Rajasthan but the saffron brigade was determined to retain power in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. It was win for TRS in Telengana where the BJP has secured one and the fate of the BJP has been conspicuous in Mizortam also where it had won one seat. What is important for the BJP, as it was boasting of a major win, as in three states it had suffered heavy lossesIn Chhattisgarh it had lost 26 seats when compared to 2013 poll. In Rajasthan it had lost 83 seats and won 80 seats when compared to 2013 when the saffron brigade had won 163 seats. In Madhya Pradesh the BJP had won 111 seats when in 2013 it had won 165 seats. In this state Congress needs the support of eight MLAs and five are from BSP and five others. This way the BJP needs the support of three MLAs. And if the mood of the BJP is any indication it may form the Government in the Centre. Is it possible for the BJP to form the Government in the centre when the saffron brigade has lost in five states.? It is not impossible as the poll trends in the states could be altogether different from the Lok Sabha seats. What should be a matter of worry is the fact that in the BJP ruled states, like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh the BJP has suffered a heavy loss though it is close to the Congress in the final battle. The BJP has not been able to make inroads in the political firmament of Telengana and Mizoram where the regional parties have scored a victory. Is it the Rahul wave or the Congress wave? Possibilities are either the three BJP ruled st ates was affected by the Congress wave which was different from the 2013 elections when these three st ates were hit by BJP wave. In 2013 Modi was not a factor and after that Modi wave helped the BJP to win many states and that too included the state of Jammu and Kashmir where for the first time the BJP won 25 seats in the Assembly leaving the PDP, which had won 28 seats, with no other option but to form the Government in alliance with the BJP. That the BJP wave has ebbed rather the Modi wave has lost its verve. Otherwise the BJP would have not suffered a setback in the thickly populated states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Over all inflation not only in fuel prices but in vegetables, pulses and fruit. Look during the Congress rule in the centre one KG of potato would be bought for Rs.10 and the current prices in the markets in north India and the central India vary from Rs.25 to Rs.35. Similarly prices of pulses, known as common mans diet, has suffered inflation. Introduction of GST has inflated prices of essential commodities and services. There are some parlours where the rates have been revised because of GST and there is hike by 50 per cent. Take for example medicines and the prices of medicines have skyrocketed. And the Congress campaigned against demonetization, GST and other deals. If Modi as head of the Government had successful innings at the foreign policy. But common people, rather the voters, have nothing to gain or lose by the Governbment's success in winning over the US, Russia, and other countries, except China and Pakistan.
