Jammu, Sept 23: With a motive to scuttle the growing criticism over delay in completion of the Super Specialty Hospital in Jammu, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today announced a fresh deadline exuberating confidence that it would be commissioned by the year end . A new yet significant announcement related to the prestigious Health project he made is that around 50% of the faculty for the Hospital would be hired through advertisements from across the country whereas rest of the staff including specialists would be absorbed at the local level.
"Nearly 50% of the faculty members would be accommodated from outside the State……the idea is to have best brains and trained specialists on board in the hospital till this gets fully established in all respects…..", the Union Health Minister said adding that a proper mechanism would be evolved but at the same time priority would be given to the people from the state. In what could be seen as the Union Health minister wishing to push the project in fast gear mode , in the review meetings with concerned he is understood to have directed the executing agencies to complete the minutest details of the project by the year end , thrust being on medical infrastructural facilities in the prestigious Hospital. However, what appears to be the Union Health minister not taking risks and leaving the faculty related matters casually, he made it clear that country's best trained and specialists would be taken by making proper advertisements so that they help in running the system effectively once it is made operational.
Even as he exuberated optimism that Hospital would become functional by the year end, he did not elaborate on any particular date or month, indicating things are still in pipeline which would require push up from the Centre as well as regular monitoring from the quarters in state to make this happen . "Hum Puri Umeed Kartay Hain Ki Isi Saal Key Dauran Yeh Hospital Shuru Hoga…."( We are hopeful that it would start functioning by the end of this year…), the Union Health minister said. Interestingly, he did not make a mention of the state government or the cooperation required from concerned quarters at the state level while making review of the Health related matters in various meetings.
