Withdraw Ministers from coalition, support Govt from outside: Vakil to Cong High Command
7/22/2014 10:44:45 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 22: Hailing the decision of the Congress high command to contest assembly elections without any alliance with any party, JKPCC senior vice-president and AICC member Abdul Gani Vakil today said that all Congress ministers be withdrawn from the coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir and suggested that they should support the government from outside.
The present situation and political scenario in the state demands that Congress must walk out of the coalition government and support it from outside for remaining period so that there was no place for conflict of interests and "Congress does not receive any new jolt for poor performance or governance deficit", he said.
He opined that the decision would help the party to get back its lost credibility and honour.
Vakil said that though it was the prerogative of the high command either to accord sanction to the poll alliance or to fight the elections all alone, it has prioritized and respected the aspirations of the rank and file of the party, which acknowledges the foresightedness of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Ambika Soni.
He said these leaders had also upheld the desire of the people which deserve not to live in a gloom of uncertainty and are fed up of the "emotional" slogans.
The former minister said that the decision is completely in the national interest besides it will help the party to secure its political space in the state. Congress has never fought elections with a single motive to grab power but has aimed to strengthen the democratic system of the country and ensure larger participation of the people, Vakil added.
He said that it is evident from the fact that Congress allowed Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Mufti Mohammad Syeed and Omar Abdullah to become Chief ministers of the state despite having other options too.
Vakil said the opportunity of contesting every seat by the party would be respected by the party men and time will be no constraint to ensure that dignified mandate to the party is achieved purely on the peace and development plank.
He said that Congress now will face electorate on its own performance with the backing of pro-friendly policies and historical works started by Ghulam Nabi Azad during his regime. Vakil said that people are interested in one party rule and want an end to the era of uncertainty and politics of opportunism. He said that Congress will work hard to ensure that the next government is formed by party on its own so that menace of corruption is uprooted and the system is set right.
