Department of Gastroenterology Super Specialty Hospital organizes CME 11/9/2014 11:10:16 PM Early Times Report jammu, Nov 9: The Department of Gastroenterology Super Specialty Hospital Jammu organized first of its kind CME.According to press release, the event was organized by Dr Shoket Chowdhary Head Gastroenterology. Dr Anil Arora chairman of Gastroenterology Sir Ganga Ram Hospital New Delhi, a renowned Gastroenterologoist of north India addressed the gathering. He discussed recent Advances in the field of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at length, which was highly appreciated by the august gathering which included almost all prominent and renowned doctors of Jammu city and many physicians from around the Jammu. Dr Arora appreciated the decision of establishment of separate department of Gastroenterology here and said Jammu is the last one to have separate department of Gastroenterology. "It is better late than never and this will help the patient in need the most and urged /requested the stakeholder to strength this department so that patients does not have to come to Delhi for smaller test due to non-availability of equipments here", he complemented. Dr Arora talked about many things but of the particular interests was endoscopic ultrasound. He also talked about Fiboscan machine which can diagnose / predict the chances of development of Cirrhosis of Liver well in advance in patient who are at high risk of developing Cirrhosis of Liver like obesity. "If these equipments are available here then patients does not have to rush to Delhi," he said. The meeting was chaired by Prof Ghanysyam Gupta Principal GMC Jammu, Prof Sunil Sharma and Prof Bharat Bhushan Gupta both are renowned Gastroenterologists of Jammu. The Occasion was graced by Dr M K Bhandari presently CEO Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board.
