Leopard enters Army camp, captured alive | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Nov 9: Army with the help of Wildlife officials today captured a leopard in this frontier district. Sources said the leopard in search of prey entered an army unit this morning and was spotted by the alert sentry who reportedly raised an alarm for the soldiers not to come in the open. The matter was brought into the notice of senior officers who contacted the police and wild life authorities at about 6 am. A wild life team headed by assistant wild life warden rushed to the unit along with tranquilizer gun, nets and cage and after 5 hours of long struggle succeeded in trangulizing the leopard who was injured after repeated attempts to enter the nearby forest after crossing the barbed wire. The unit is situated in the heart of Rajouri city near bus stand and the leopard entered the unit area after crossing the barbed wire from the adjoining dense forest under the jurisdiction of division headquarters. The wildlife officials said the leopard was brought to wildlife office and veterinary doctors provided medical treatment to it. "On Monday doctor would again check the injuries and if the leopard recovers it would shifted to Manda wild life sanctuary at Jammu," the officials added.
