Profile of Modi’s new Cabinet

1. Manohar Parrikar (Cabinet post): The 10th chief minister of Goa, 58-year-old Parrikar is an IIT graduate who joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at a young age. Under his leadership BJP had a clean sweep in Goa by winning 21 seats out of 40 seats in March 2012 Assembly elections.
2. JP Nadda (Cabinet post): 53-year-old Nadda is also a Rajya Sabha member from Himachal Pradesh. He stepped into politics during Bihar movement. He has the experience of handling the Environment and Forest Ministry in Himachal Pradesh.
3. Birender Singh (Cabinet post): 68-year-old Birender Singh is an influential leader in Haryana. After serving the Congress for over 42 years, Singh joined the BJP in August this year during a political rally organised in Jind by Amit Shah. In his political career he has been entrusted with key profiles. His entry into BJP could bring in Jat votes in Haryana.
4. Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu (Cabinet post): Suresh Prabhu, who resigned from Shiv Sena and joined BJP today, is an Indian Charted Accountant. The 61-year-old has represented the Rajapur Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra four times, from 1996 to 2009.
5. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: The Muslim face of the BJP, 57-year-old Naqvi served the party by holding the post of its national vice-president. Naqvi studied at Allahabad University and was jailed for activism during the Emergency imposed by the then prime minister Indira Gandhi in 1975-77.
6. Rajiv Pratap Rudy (MOS, Independent Charge) : 52-year-old commercial pilot, Rudy defeated former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi from Saran constituency in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He also served as the Minister of State for Commerce, Trade & Industry and Civil Aviation Minister with independent charge during Vajpayee's government.
7. Dr Mahesh Sharma (MOS, Independent Charge) : 55-year-old BJP MP from Gautam Buddha Nagar, Sharma is a doctor by profession and also the owner of Kailash Group of Hospitals. He has served as BJP's medical cell convenor. His induction in Cabinet is seen as BJP's strategy to win 2017 UP elections.
8. Ram Kripal Yadav: Known for his separation from RJD, 57-year-old Yadav is an MP from Bihar's Patliputra LS seat. He had defeated RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter Misa Bharti. His induction in Modi's Cabinet could prove beneficial during Bihar elections.
9. Sanwar Lal Jat: Known to be quite close to Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Sanwar Lal has been a minister in state for three times. In 2014 LS elections, he defeated Congress leader Sachin Pilot from Ajmer constituency with heavy margin.
10. Mohan Kundariya: 63-year-old first time BJP MP from Rajkot, Kundariya is the only representative of Patel community in Modi's Cabinet.
11. Giriraj Singh: Former minister in Bihar cabinet during Nitish Kumar's regime, Singh is an outspoken BJP leader. He won Nawada Lok Sabha constituency with good margin and also has a good hold on Bhumihar votebank. He is considered quite close to PM Modi.
12. Ram Shankar: Born in Uttra Pradesh's Etawah district, 50-year-old Shankar was a professor before stepping into politics. He could prove an advantage for the BJP to woo Dalit voters in 2017 UP elections.
13. Bandaru Dattatreya: New state of Telangana gets a representative; the BJP's Bandaru Dattatreya is a new Minister of State with independent charge.
14. Rajyavardhan Rathore: Olympian shooter and ex-Army man Rajyavardhan Rathore wore a colourful safa and a bandhgala, as he took oath as minister of state.
15. Babul Supriyo: Actor-turned-politician Babul Supriyo, who pulled off a surprise win for the BJP in West Bengal in the national elections this year is a minister of state.
16. Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary: He stormed the traditional Congress bastion of Banaskantha 16 years ago and maintained a strong hold over it winning the Lok Sabha seat four times, today bagged a ministerial berth at the Centre.
17. Ahir Hansraj Gangaram is a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He is famous for exposing Coal Mining Scam. Mr. Hansraj Ahir frequently requested details of coal mining to Prime Minister of India office but he didn't succeed
18. Yalamanchili Satyanarayana: "Y. S." Chowdary is an Indian politician and principal founder of Sujana Group of Companies. Chowdary is from the city of Hyderabad in the Ranga Reddy District of Telangana state.
19. Jayant Sinha: He is an Indian Member of Parliament, investment fund manager and management consultant. In May 2014, he was elected to the Lok Sabha, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand.
20. Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti is a politician from Bhartiya Janata Party, and a minister of state rank in Indian Central Govt in Delhi since November 2014. She contested and won from Fatehpur Seat, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, in Indian general election in April/May 2014.
21. Vijay Sampla: Vijay Sampla once a plumber is a member of parliament from Hoshiarpur. He won the Indian general election, 2014 being an Bharatiya Janata Party candidate.
22. Bandaru Dattatreya: Bandaru Dattatreya is an Indian politician. He was the president of the Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He is succeeded as president by Kishan Reddy.
