JU men, women teams make it easy wins in pre-quarters Quarterfinals position cleared in NZ Handball

JAMMU, Nov 9: Hosts University of Jammu (JU) among eight teams have been spotted for the next round of quarterfinals in both men and women sections in the ongoing North Zone Inter-University Handball Tournament on the campus grounds, here today.
Now, in the men's quarterfinals, JU shall take on MDU Rohtak while women's team shall lock horns against Delhi University Sports Council in the afternoon session, starting at 2 pm tomorrow.
Earlier, in the pre-quarterfinals, played this afternoon, JU men trounced Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri 28-09 in a one-sided contest. Rahul Manmotra remained highest scorer with 12 goals while Sahil Bharat contributed five. Divyansh Khajuria and Vishal contributed four goals each. Aman Bhanatia remained in limelight for his exceptional abilities guarding the net.
JU men team: Sahil Bharat, Sachin Dogra, Sandeep Singh, Sahil Parihar, Divyansh, Rohit Kumar, Harmandeep Singh, Aman (goal-keeper), Amit Manjotra, Sumit Kumar, Sanjeev Singh, Jinder Pal Singh, Smile Sumbria (goal-keeper), Vasudev (goal-keeper), Vishal Vij and Rahul Manmotra. Dr Dharminder Magotra and Dev Raj are manager and coach of the team respectively.
Meanwhile, in women's section, after getting walkovers in first two rounds of the competition, JU today outplayed Guru Angad Dev (GAD) University 13-05. Simran (five), Nitika (four) and Sangita (three) were the main contributors to the JU score.
JU women team: Suman Lata (goal-keeper), Simran, Krishma, Shivangi, Varsha (goal-keeper), Neha, Sangita (captain), Anu, Sweety, Nitika, Sarni, Anadhika, Priya (goal-keeper), Anita, Sudesh and Sulekha. Dr Dharminder Magotra (manager), Gourav Sharma (coach) are team officials.
Today's pre-quarterfinals officiated by the technical penal comprising Sanjeev Jamwal, Sh. Kartar Dogra, Vikas Sharma, Lakwinder Singh, Kaushal Dixit, Iqbal Singh, Kapil Sharma, Anoop Singh, Gourav Sharma, Karun Magotra, Bhan Priya, Roshini, Priya Choudhary, Priya Charak, Reeva, Prabhleen Kour, Rupali Sharma, Pooja Sharma and Ashish Dogra.

MEN: PTU Jalandhar bt University of Allahabad 36-15; GNDU Amritsar bt Delhi University 33-27; JU bt BGSBU Rajouri 28-08; LPU Phagwara bt RMLA University Faizabad 36-30.
WOMEN: Punjab University Chandigarh bt HP University Shimla 22-09; RMLA University Faizabad bt MJP Rohailkhand University Bareilly 12-05;JU bt GADU Ludhiana 13-05; LPU Phagwara bt CCSU Meerut 17-12.

MEN: PTU Jalandhar V/s Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra and GNDU V/s Punjab University Chandigarh at 9 am. LPU Phagwara V/s Punjab University, Patiala and JU V/s MDU Rohtak at 2 pm.
WOMEN: PU Chandigarh V/s Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra and RMLA University Faizadab V/s Punjab University Patiala at 9 am. JU V/s Delhi University Sports Council and LPU Phagwara V/s MDU Rohtak at 2 pm.
