Cardiac awareness, detection camp held at Brij Nagar

Brij Nagar, Nov 9: Dr Sushil Kumar Sharma, Head Department of Cardiology, Government Medical College along with his team reached out to the border residents of R S Pura to provide them medical assistance and to create awareness about cardiovascular diseases.
According to press release, a medical camp was organized at Brij Nagar, Miran Sahib especially for the residents of border belts of R S Pura.
Due to recent skirmishes on borders following by mass migration of the people, cases of heart diseases have been increased manifold in this border belt of RS Pura. Dr. Sushil and his team have decided to provide medical assistance to the people at their door steps. Over 300 patients from R S Pura and other border areas were examined during the camp. Free medicines were also distributed among patients. ECGs and blood sugar tests were conducted during the camp by the team of doctorand other experts.
The doctors who accompanied Dr. Sushil Sharma included Dr. Nasir, Dr. Salma, Dr. Ruchi, Dr Mohi Kalsotra, Dr. D. Kapoor and Dr. Vijay Singh, Dr.Vivak Arya scientist cum Social activist, Nitan Shrama besides paramedicals including Joginder.
During the camp, Dr. Sushil advised the people to change their life style to avoid such deadly diseases. He advised people to avoid fatty meals, encourage them for walk, quit smoking and avoid alcohol.
He also advised the people to regularly check for blood pressure, diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol to remain healthy. Further, Dr Sushil Sharma suggested the people regular physical exercises to the
maximum of 30 to 60 minutes per day or five days a week.
Later talking to the media persons, Dr. Sushil Sharma said that they have already organised such camps in different areas of Jammu province. He said that aim of organizing such camps is to spread
awareness among heart diseases which is rapidly spreading among all age groups across the urban and rural population.
Locals namely Vijay Kumar, Chairman Refugee Rights and Rehabilitation Forum, S. Nirmaan Singh, Panch Harjeet Singh, Arvind Raina expressed their sincere gratitude to Dr. Sushil Sharma and his team for their philanthropic endeavor.
