Assembly polls golden opportunity for people: Bhardwaj | | | ‘Punish those who let you down’
Early Times Report
Bishnah, Nov 9: Senior advocate and a prominent social figure of Jammu and Kashmir Mohinder Bhardwaj today said that the state is passing through a very distressed phase on account of misgovernance and total neglect of the areas by elected representatives in many areas. He said: “The coming Assembly elections have brought a golden opportunity for the people to punish those representatives who have not lived up to their expectations.” "The time of reckoning has once again come and I appeal to the people to act judicially while voting to elect their candidate. A wrong selection of the candidate once again will push Bishnah further back on the developmental graph. Pragmatism and not emotions should be the determining factor for the people while choosing to vote for a nominee," he said. Reminding them he had tried to serve the people to the best of his ability during recent rains and floods and unprovoked Pak firing on the border villages, Bhardwaj said that he is committed to keep serving the area with same spirit. "Serving people of Bishnah is an article of faith for me and it is immaterial that whether I sit in the Assembly or not my efforts on the development of the area and well-being of the people will continue," he observed. Addressing a meeting of local Congress leaders and prominent workers here Bhardwaj said that this the time for the people to evaluate the performance of their sittings MLAs and even corner them when the legislators approach the public for votes. People should act with utmost caution while exercising their right to franchise and should not be carried away by hollow slogans and attempts to emotionally black-mailing them into voting for any individual or a political party. He further exhorted the people of the area particularly of Bishnah Assembly segment to be wary of such designs of the BJP and its candidate who had utterly neglected the area despite people reposing faith in him twice. Despite being in the immediate neighborhood of Jammu, the winter capital of the state, the neglect of Bishnah constituency bears ample testimony to its neglect." It is imperative that people evaluate the track-record of all the candidates in fray before taking a final decision," he added. |
