Lal Singh dedicates Ophthalmic Hospital to people at Samba

JAMMU, Apr 18: Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Choudhary Lal Singh today inaugurated Eye Operation Theatre with 10-bedded Ophthalmic Hospital in the premises of District Hospital (DH) Samba. The facilities have been constructed by Public Works Department at an estimated cost of Rs 75 lakh under NRHM funding.
MLA Samba Devinder Kumar Manyal, MLA Hiranagar Kuldeep Raj, Director General ISM Dr Abdul Kabir Dar, Director Health Services Jammu Dr Baljeet Singh Pathania, Medical Superintendant of Samba Hospital Dr Rajinder Sambyal besides other senior officers of Health and PWD were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said with the commissioning of new ophthalmic facility, the patients suffering with eye ailments will be treated at the doorstep with latest techniques. He appealed the people to avoid going to private hospitals, adding that Government has equipped all the Government hospitals with latest facilities to deliver best possible medicare.
The Minister said instructions have been issued for the review of the progress of every doctor/paramedical staff and submit the report on monthly basis. He said good performers will be awarded and lax staff should be ready to face action. He said no officer/official will be spared if he/she is not performing duty as per the expectations of the general masses.
Earlier, Lal Singh also paid surprise visit to Government Rajiv Gandhi Hospital at Gangyal and took stock of its functioning.
Lal Singh went round each section of the hospital, enquired about the available facilities and interacted with the patients to get first hand information about the availability of drugs and other medical facilities being provided to the patients in the hospital.
The Minister instructed the Medical Superintendent of the hospital to ensure all possible healthcare facilities to the patients with special focus on maintaining hygienic condition in and around the hospital. Lal Singh also inspected the functioning of laboratory, X-ray, Ultrasound, gynaecological Ward and Blood Unit at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital. He was informed that over 100 outdoor patients are being provided medicare facilities on daily basis at the hospital.
