Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 18: Authorities have failed to implement order issued in January this year to repatriate 45 employees, including Junior Engineers from PWD (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering Department, attached with J&K State Road Transport Corporation and Motor Vehicles Department, to their parent departments.
Pertinently, the government vide order No. TC/JKEstt./673 dated 29-01-2015 ordered repatriation of 45 employees to parent departments stating that the department faces difficulty in drawing the salaries of 14 Motor Vehicle Inspectors, 16 Junior Assistants and others.
The Transport Commissioner had submitted the list of the employees attached with SRTC and MVD to Commissioner Secretary Transport seeking their immediate repatriation but till date no Inspector or engineer or clerk have joined their duties in parent department while at the same time senior officials of the department have turned a blind eye towards the matter.
Sources informed the "Early Times" that instead of acting tough on the erring employees, Managing Director SRTC Jeet Singh Tandon extended all possible help to these repatriated SRTC employees to push them back in Motor Vehicle Department which is in violation of rules and regulation.
Sources said that MD SRTC Tandon also assured these employees that he would continue to help them in their cause, while as per norms MD SRTC should have sought explanation from the employees who had not joined their duty even after repatriation order was issued by none other than Commissioner Secretary to Government Transport Department.
The Managing Director SRTC has shown total disrespect towards the order issued by the Commissioner Secretary to Government Transport Department.
Sources said that according to rules the absent period of these repatriated employees should be treated as service gap.
It is pertinent to mention that in act of brazen violation of Jammu and Kashmir transfer policy and an act of harassing its staff members, particularly the class IV employees, MD SRTC has issued several transfer orders of these employees in past one year, that has not only send the poor employees of SRTC into tizzy, but is also giving sleepless nights to the family members of the victim employees.
