This defence road from Ghambir Brahmna connects another border road , from PB to Bhimbergali about 5o kilometers along Line of Control (LoC) ,near Tarkundi village situated on LoC.
The road was first constructed by Engineer Regiment in 1950-51 immediately after intrusion by Pakistani intruders backed by Pakistan army in 1947-48. In 1961-62 the road was handed over to GREF for maintaining for the smooth movement of Army vehicles and as well as for the inhabitants of the area.
As the road passes through a river at Ghambir Brahmna, a bridge of about 60 meter length was required to make the road all weather. But the GREF failed to construct the bridge ( till today ) and people as well as army officers/soldiers facing many challenges when the river has floods.
Recently two girl students, two army soldiers and an army vehicle were washed away in the floods while crossing the river and were saved by the local people.

On getting the information of highway blocking Naib Tehsildar, Ghambir Brahamna along with SHO, Manjakot along wqith in-charge Rajouri police post reached the spot and talked to the protesters.
Later Deepati Uppal, Deputy Commissioner, who was busy in Chief Minister's tour to Rajouri, appealed to the people to withdraw the protest and assured them to take up the matter with concerned authorities including GREF within two days.
Pertinently Abdul Majid Wani, Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B) informed that a proposal for the 56 meter long bridge costing Rs 367.65 lakhs has already been sent to higher authorities for consideration/ approval and still they have not received any communication from the State Government.
More than 50000 people and several army units deployed for the security/manning of the border have been facing many problems in the absence of bridge at Ghambir Brahmna.
In 1981 for the smooth movement of vehicles on this crucial road Army Engineers had constructed a causeway at this bridge which was also washed away in 2008 flash floods and since then people as well as soldiers crossing the river on feet by carrying their belongings on heads/shoulders.
