| DB appoints Amicus Curie over PIL challenging vires for Roshni Act | | |

Jammu, Apr 28: In the much publicized Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Ankur Sharma Law Student of Delhi University challenging the vires of J&K State Land popularly known as 'Roshni Act', the Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal today deemed it appropriate to appoint an amicus curie (court counsel) in view of the importance of the issue having constitutional ramifications.
When this PIL came-up for hearing, Division Bench after thoughtful consideration and looking into the importance of legal question involved in the PIL, appointed Advocate Rahul Bharti as Amicus Curie to assist the Court in this PIL.
Division Bench directed the Registry to provide a complete set of paper book to Adv Rahul Bharti so that he can render proper assistance on the next date of hearing. —(JNF)
