Early Times Report

JAMMU, May 24: Criticizing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for slashing funds in education sector in the last Union Budget, Congress today alleged that the Modi-led BJP government in the Centre want to "saffronise'' education system in the country and they are also promoting blue eyed of RSS by sidelining deserving as well as competent educationists.
"It is unfortunate that the BJP Government is not serious in promoting the education sector and this is the reason, in the Union Budget 2015, the funds for Sarv Shiksha Abhiyaan (SAA) were reduced to Rs 22,000 crore from Rs 28,000 crore and for Mid Day Meal Scheme, funds of Rs 13,000 crore were cut short to Rs 9,000 crore,'' Shobha Ojha, All India Mahila Congress president, told reporters here this afternoon."BJP has slashed the Budget in various Education fields,'' she said and alleged that the Modi led Government is not serious in giving boost to this sector and want to "saffronise'' it.
Ojha also blamed Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani and Union Minister of State Ram Shanker for having 'fake' educational degrees and said that in such a situation, how an education sector of the country can be upgraded. She further said, "On the directions of the RSS, the HRD Ministry is removing competent educationists and academicians only to adjust their 'blue-eyed' people.''The Congress stalwart quoted an example of stepping down of noted Nuclear Scientist Anil Kakodkar as a member of IIT Board to select three directors, which were RSS men. "Congress party will not act as a mute spectator. We will take to streets and highlight the issue of education sector in the Parliament and if required, will also aware people in every nook and corner of the state,'' she added. She further criticized BJP on Land Acquisition Bill, terming it as 'anti-farmers' and said that in the last one year, Modi Government has failed to solve farmer issues, control inflation, women are still being exploited, unemployment is on rise and defeat in Delhi elections must be an 'eye-opener' for the Saffron party. Ojha accused BJP of "compromising'' with Peoples Democratic Party to form government in Jammu and Kashmir on 'share for share' concept."Coalition formation in Jammu and Kashmir has cleared that how the BJP, who claimed to be a nationalist party, has compromised 'share for share' part for power,'' Ojha said. She said that BJP has 'dumped' all its agendas and promises made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir only for 'chair'. The Congress leader however, also criticized Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for being 'soft' towards separatists and giving them keen attention on various issues. On issue of AIIMS and Artificial Lake, the Congress National Spokesperson said, "We are not against announcing AIIMS to Kashmir but people of Jammu should not be deprived of prestigious institution.''
"It was first announced for Jammu in the Union Budget and it should get it. The Centre should announce another AIIMS for Kashmir,'' she said and also advocated for constructing Artificial Lake Project in Jammu, which will not only boost tourism industry of "neglected'' Jammu but will also generate employment for youth.Rs 55 crore has already been spent on this mega project, so at this stage, shelving it, is not justified, she asserted. On Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar's remarks ''terrorists for neutralizing terrorists'', she said, ''it is unfortunate and we condemn it.''"Such statements can demoralize the forces, who are efficient and capable of fighting anti-national elements despite all odds on the borders,'' said Ojha.
