SRINAGAR, Aug 2: Weather turned pleasant after remaining humid and hot last week in the Kashmir valley. People are visiting Mughal gardens and tourist places while others are busy shopping at famous Sunday Market in the summer capital as the weather turned pleasant.
However, Sun was making brief appearance after intervals though the intensity of the heat was less as compared to the last week.
A Met department spokesperson said here this afternoon that wet weather six days in the Valley and Jammu region. However, there is a possibility of isolated rain in Ladakh before the weather turn dry during subsequent 48 hours.
After heavy rain during the day yesterday, the maximum temperature dropped in the summer capital, Srinagar though the minimum temperature remained still above normal.
He said after 18.6 mm rainfall during the past 24 hours, highest in the valley, the maximum temperature witnessed a drop in Srinagar and settled at 28 degrees celsius , two notches below normal.
Though the minimum temperature also recorded drop of about half a degree, but it remained above normal. Against yesterdays 21.1 degrees, it was 20.7 degrees, about two degree above normal.Despite fresh morning rain, large number of people could be seen visiting three-km long Sunday market in the civil lines, including historic Lal Chowk, where hundreds of vendors had put up their stalls. Last Sunday the business was affected due to rain.
The spokesperson said there could be light rain or thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 27 degrees and 18 degrees respectively during the next 24 hours in the city.
World famous ski resort of Gulmarg, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir, received 8,8 mm rainfall but the minimum temperature remained a degree above normal. The famed tourist place is witnessing heavy rush of tourists, particularly locals. |
