Jammu, Oct 3 : Condemning various parties for raking up the issue of beef ban for petty political gains, the Jammu & Kashmir Christian Dalit Society (JKCDS)has asked the people from all the religions to maintain and exercise restraint and tolerance and abstain from slaughtering the cow considered sacred by the Hindus and avoid consuming beef. At a meeting of the society held today under the chairmanship of S Peter, the members appealed the masses in the state not to fall prey to nefarious designs of mischievous elements trying to create wedge among the people belonging to different castes and creed. They also appealed the saner elements in the society to contribute their bit towards maintaining communal brotherhood and religious tolerance. The members of the society present at the meeting included: Madan Gill Vice President, Hammed Matoo Gen Secy, Sham Lal Gill Secy, Vinod Sohatra, Beli Ram, William Pal, Rajinder Kumar, Dalbir Massi, SagarMassi, Vijay Massi, Miss Manu Gill, Miss V Naina, Miss Simran Pal,Miss Paral Victor, Miss Rose Matoo. The society also reiterated its demand for one per cent reservation to Christian Dalits in government jobs, admissions in profession institutions as well as in all elected bodies. expressing their strong resentment for neglecting the community |
