Jammu, Oct 4 : To infuse a novel idiom on the theatrical forum of Jammu, Amateur Theatre Group has taken an initiative to roll out a series of theatre productions designed, drafted and directed by young crop of directors of the region. Entitled as ATG Natyaa utsav, the effort is focused to provide a holistic platform to young theatre directors to show cause their talent which they have imbibed over the time while attending various state and national workshops conducted from time to time. In this regard, three plays of different origins and playwrights are being performed starting tomorrow with Surender Varma 's Marnoprant directed by Aparna Kapoor followed by Sandeep Varma's Nange and Mohit Mehra's Shooting at K L Saigal Hall. Speaking on the occasion, the concept director Mushtaq Kak said that since this Natyaa utsav is an opener to a big and continuous theatre series which will follow thereafter will be a joint effort organized by various groups of the region which will include some of the premier Theatre groups like Shivani Cultural Society , Rangsalla Theatre Group, Rangyatri, Pancham theater group , Yamini Cultural Society , Navdurga Kala manch, Manoranjan Kala kendra, Sangam theatre group and others joining the crusade. All time great plays like Haadsa Haqeeqat, Kala Suraj, Fandi, Broken chair, Padaav, The last Séance, Poornviraam, Hatya Aik Akaar Ki, Jayaz Hatyare and Chahtein will be performed in the series. The Natya Utsav coordinator, Vikram Sharma said that since the attempt is novel of its kind in the region, more small and big theatre organizations will be approached soon to make such event an annual feature. |
