Poonch, Jan 4: One more young lady became the victim of doctor's negligence after delivery of a male baby in SDH Mendhar while locals alleged that the hospital had turned into slaughter house where doctors give a raw deal to the patients. Farzan Kousar wife of Ibrar Hussain of Gulpta, Harmi, Mandi in district Poonch had been admitted in SDH Mendhar on January 3 with labour pain. She was operated upon on next day and delivered a male baby, the sources said, adding soon after the delivery she was shifted to general ward with severe bleeding. The sources said that the post of Gynecologist in the hospital is vacant since long while a doctor Dr Rabina on duty in the ward attended her. Sources added that the staff nurse who assisted the doctor fainted many times after seeing the patient bleeding profusely. Her relatives when approached Block Medical Officer Dr Zulfkar for shifting her to Jammu said that the treatment is going on but on the repeated pleas by the relatives of Kouser, she was referred to District Hospital Rajouri, sources further reveal that she was administered blood there but her condition deteriorated and was referred to GMCH, Jammu where doctors declared her brought dead. The husband of the deceased alleged that he was asked for Rs 500/- in labour room by staff nurse after delivery. Later when patient was shifted to DH Rajouri, he was charged Rs. 2500/- for fuel expenses and after that when he took the dead body from GMCH Jammu to Mendhar he was again charged Rs. 1000/- as returning expenses. They alleged that patient was given a long cut and profuse bleeding was the cause of death. When contacted, CMO Poonch Dr. Manzoor Bhatti said that it was a normal case though a little bit complicated. In this pretext District Development Commissioner Poonch MH Malik said that deceased's relative will be given Rs. 5000 on behalf of Red Cross society and enquiry shall be initiated to ascertain facts.
