Early Times Report

JAMMU, July 30: Kashmiri Pandits today openly demanded that the PM package employees and other KP employees working in Valley who were forced to migrate after the present Kashmir unrest which was the outcome of the killing of dreaded militant Burhan Wani on July 8 be adjusted at Jammu on the pattern of the employees who had migrated from Ladakh during sixties.
The demand was made by the leaders of various KP organizations at a meting which was called by the BJP leaders of the displaced district at Party office Kachi Chawni here.
They while expressing grave concern over the plight of these hapless employees who were forced to leave Valley by frenzied mob said that these employees be treated as migrants and be provided salaries at Jammu on the pattern of the Ladakh employees.
These employees who are here on dharna in front of Relief Commissioner's Office over a fortnight now are demanding that they be provided salaries here as they can't work in Valley under prevailing situation.
They also termed the statement of DIG Kashmir totally baseless and motivated to please the particular section of people in Valley that no transit camp was attacked during recent turmoil in Valley and alleged that this way he was trying to absolve the separatists and the anti social elements who pelted stones on transit camps in Valley damaged window panes of quarters and the vehicles of migrant employees parked in front of these quarters.
Terming situation grim they said under the prevailing circumstances they can't work in Valley and hence be adjusted in camp offices at Jammu.
However during the meeting called by BJP leaders to solicit the opinion of the prominent people of the community on the issue it was opined that strong deliberations need to be held on the issue. However the leaders of various KP organizations as well as the prominent citizens of the community were of the opinion that the government should not force these employees to join their duties in Valley in view of the prevailing situation there.
Showing grave concern for the female employees, the KP leaders said that the Government should ensure their security.
