Kashmir is in for a long tussle between separatists and Government
7/30/2016 10:58:48 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu,July 30 Shuttling between curfew restrictions being imposed and curfew restrictions withdrawn from some places. This is the scene in Kashmir since july 8 when Hizbul Mujahideen commander,Burhan Wani was killed which resulted in sever clashes between protesters and security forces in which nearly 46 people have been killed and over 5,000 people, including scores of security personnel, were injured.
And if between Wednesday and Thursday curfew restrictions were lifted from some areas in the valley except from some belts in south Kashmir they were reimposed on Friday in all 10 districts of the valley. In fact when the separatists announced extension in their shutdown call saying that it has been extended tillMonday it did not bother the Government. What upset the Government and the security forces was the plan, conceived by the separatists, for organizing a march to Jamia Masjid for paying tribute to those killed in recent incidents of violence.
Strict restrictions were imposed in all 10 districts of Kashmir on Friday morning to foil the march to Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, on the separatists' call to pay tributes to those killed during the ongoing unrest across the valley.
The decision to enforce strict restrictions was given the nod at the security review meeting by top civil administration and police officers here on Thursday evening. There would be no public and vehicular movement except for essential services and ambulances, the officials said.
Amid complete shutdown, most areas of the Kashmir valley have been reeling under restrictions. At least 46 civilians and two J&K Police personnel have lost their lives while more than 5,600 others have got injured in the clashes so far. The trouble started on July 8 following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.
Meanwhile, separatist leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik have extended the shutdown call by two days from Saturday, to protest against the civilian killings during the past about three weeks.
The administration had already foiled the separatists' march to Anantnag and Kulgam districts earlier this week If nolt anything else separatists deserve praise for their resistance and resilence. They enjoy their lives even in being placed under house arrest because they have a big bunch of workers to get rice,Atta, other eatables from the half opened shops. These workers can visit the shopkeepers' houses to get eatables for the separatists.
This resilence and resistance are shown in their art of calling upon people to observe shutdowns.Sin ce July 8 incident Kashmir has witnessed repeated shutdowns which has entailed a loss of over 15,000 crores to traders, transporters and to those connected with tourism.Shutdowns do not entail any financial loss to the separatists because they run different types of shops, shops that do not sell eatables for people.Their shops sell politics, shudowns, hartals and violence.
Even if these separatists feel the pinch of shortage of finances they are helped by agencies across the LOC which have been running hawala rackets which pump over Rs.100 crores a year in Kashmir.Besides this the ISI in Pakistan,IB and RAW in India besides MI in India keep on funding their field sources and that also helps several thousand families in Kashmir.
In reality separatists thrive on turmoil, conflict and violence because peace is their enemy. When Kashmir is swept by incidents of violence and repeated hartals separatists get a chance to register their presence and political authority. Whether in 2010 or now separatists hold the key to peace and which they will not allow and hence they keep on extending the dates for shutdowns.
