Jammu, Oct 7 : NIA Special Judge Kishore Kumar today remanded two JeM (Jaish-e-Mohammad) militants, who were captured in connection with the September 29 Uri terror attack on an army brigade headquarters that had led to the martyrdom of 18 soldiers, to 15-day judicial custody. Faisal Hussain Awan (20), son of Gul Akbar of Podha Jhandgra, Muzaffarabad in PoK, and Ahsan Khursheed (19), son of Chaudhary Khursheed of Khaliana Khurd, Muzaffarabad, were produced by a NIA team in the court amid tight security. They were arrested in case RC-14/2016/NIA/DLI of NIA police station, New Delhi, for offences under sections 302, 307, 124 (A), 120-B, 121 and 121-A of RPC, section 7/27 of Arms Act and sections 15/16 and 18 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act 1967. The judge observed that the duo 'are working for the Pak-based JeM to wage war against India. Investigation of the case is in its initial stage and their custodial interrogation is needed to unearth the larger conspiracy against the nation hatched by JeM and its overground supporters'. "Keeping in view the facts and circumstances of the case, stage of the investigation and the nature of offences involved, this application is allowed and both the accused are remanded to judicial custody for 15 days from today. Their medical examination be got conducted as required under law," the court ordered. |
