JAMMU, Oct 7: Vigilance Organisation, Kashmir, (VOK) has booked Baramulla Municipal Council's ex-EO (executive officer) for allegedly making 72 backdoor appointments.
All the illegal appointments were alleged to have been made in 2010-11 in Baramulla MC by its then EO Ghulam Mohammad Lone, son of Abdul Aziz Lone of Barwina, Ganderbal, even as he had no competence to do so.
VOK sources said he had ordered appointments, engagements and regularisations without following the set procedure and in gross violation of framed rules. "He is found to have abused his official position in conspiracy with the beneficiaries," sources alleged.
The VOK has booked him under section 5(1)(d) read with section 5(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act and section 120-B of RPC. |
