Sanitation all set to be hit in Kashmir as local bodies employees contemplate to go on strike
5/13/2018 10:46:39 PM
Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, May 13: The sanitation services in the Kashmir valley are likely to be affected from next week in case the demands of the employees working in the different municipal committees and councils are not met by May 20.
Talking to Early Times, Manzoor Ahmad Pampori, President Urban Local Bodies Employees United Forum (ULBEUF) said that the employees are left with no option, but to go on strike in order to press for their demands. Pampori said that despite projecting their demands time and again no action whatsoever has been taken to fulfill the demands. "The state government has so far failed to fulfill the genuine demands of employees of municipal committees and councils. Given this situation the only option available with us is to go on strike. Employees of all the municipal bodies would stop sanitation and other allied services in all the towns of Kashmir division," said Pampori.
Listing the demands the ULBEUF President said that 7th Pay Commission should be implemented in favour of local bodies adding that regularization of casual workers needs to be done at the earliest. He said the pension cases of the pensioners should be settled at the earliest. He said that Departmental Promotion Committee should meet regularly so that the promotions are awarded at the earliest.
Pampori said the employees of urban local bodies especially sweepers have been performing their duties with full dedication and punctuality despite all odds and trying circumstances. He said at the same time the authorities are exhibiting indifferent attitude towards the issues of these poor employees. "Orders of devolution of funds released on the previous rates shall be amended immediately and the additional funds to meet the expenditure on account of enhanced pay should be released forthwith without any delay. The state government would be responsible for the consequences thereof once the employees proceed on strike," said Pampori.
