JU VC undermines authority of Chancellor's office
Favours his Special Secretary yet again
5/14/2018 12:16:15 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 13: Clearly undermining the authority of Chancellor's Office, the authorities at the helm of affairs in University of Jammu (JU) have committed a contemptuous act of appointing an ineligible person as Incharge Administrator of General Zorawar Singh Auditorium Complex (GZSAC).
According to sources, few months ago the Chancellor's Office had communicated to the Vice Chancellor of Jammu University not to conduct interview for any of the positions because his tenure was coming to end. "The communication was made to restrain the Vice Chancellor to favour his blue-eyed or the move which creates any suspicion in the mind of stakeholders," they added.
But, the Vice Chancellor played a smart move and appointed Neeraj Sharma as Administrator of GZSAC though not a permanent appointment but in the capacity of Incharge. "Neeraj Sharma is Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor and has applied for the post of Administrator of GZSAC. Even his eligibility is challenged for the post of Administrator and he is also not eligible for the post of Special Secretary, on which he is presently working," sources revealed.
Highly placed sources informed that Vice Chancellor wanted to extend undue favour to Neeraj Sharma by making his selection in the interview but as the office of Chancellor shot letter to the varsity, Prof Ramji Dass Sharma found another way to fulfill his commitment made to Neeraj Sharma. "The Vice Chancellor made Neeraj Sharma superior to all other candidates who have applied for the post of GZSAC Administrator, by appointing him as Incharge Administrator. He would automatically be the front-runner as and when the interview is conducted for the post," they explained.
Pertinently, two of the senior most Administrators Ashwani Padha and Dharminder Magotra, who are currently serving as Joint Secretaries have made a representation to the Vice Chancellor on such arrangements. They mentioned, appointment of Incharges on various administrative positions (i.e. Registrar, Controller, CDC, DDE and Administrator GZSAC) by present administration, provides an edge to these appointees who otherwise are the applicants for these administrative positions, over the other who have applied for these positions and have not been considered as Incharge appointees for these posts.
This reflects the intentions of the administration to build up a case of these Incharge appointees against us in the interview to be held for these posts. "Some of these Incharge appointees have filed legal cases in the court of law against the University and yet have been benefitted by the present administration," the representation added.
Pertinent to mention here that one of the signatories on this representation is brother-in-law of Vice Chancellor Prof Ramji Dass Sharma.
