ADG ICAR interacts with progressive farmers in Rajouri KVK

RAJOURI, June 9: Additional Director General (Extension), ICAR, Dr. VP Chahal today visited Krishi Vigyaan Kendra Rajouri in connection with Ex-trainee Sammelan which was organised at KVK campus and was attended by about 30 farmers.
He was accompanied by Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director ATARI, Zone-I and Dr. RK Arora, Associate Director Extension ( KVKs under SKUAST-Jammu).
This was maiden visit of any ADG and Director ATARI to KVK Rajouri.
The dignitaries were formally welcomed by Dr. Arvind Kumar Ishar, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Rajouri who gave a brief note on activities of KVK and its impact in the district.
Addressing the gathering of scientists and progressive farmers of the district, Dr. Chahal advised that scientist must address the basic problems of the farmers and should work in unison with the farmers to bring out cost effective solutions.
He further added that farmers must avail the facility of KVK and should regularly visit KVK for knowledge update and know how of modern technologies in agriculture.
While addressing media persons, he informed that ICAR is continuously working for welfare of farmers and the farmers of twin hilly districts shall also be taken care of while devising any special programme.
He congratulated Dr. Arora and Dr. Rajbir for their good governance and grooming of KVKs.
While addressing the gathering, Dr. Rajbir Singh applauded the efforts of KVK in bringing the technologies to farmer's field.
He was overwhelmed with the innovations of the farmers of the district who had modified small machines according to their needs. He directed the scientists of KVK to immediately document these innovations and send it to ATARI for publications and also to recommend the farmers for awards. He advised the scientist to document all such innovations made by farmers so that due recognition may be given to such farmers. He further stated that KVK must work for soil and water conservation in the district.
Dr. R. K. Arora from SKUAST-Jammu expressed his gratitude to Dr. V P Chahal and Dr. Rajbir Singh for their visit to this KVK in one of the remote districts of the country.
He advised KVK scientists to follow the advice of visiting dignitaries in letter and spirit and work for the welfare of farming society of the district. He assured ADG and Director ATARI that the team of scientists in KVK shall work hard to transfer the technologies to farmer's field with an aim to double the income of farmers of the district.
Chaman Lal , a progressive farmer from Bhajwal and other farmers attending the interaction meeting informed that with the intervention of KVK, not only their income has increased but also the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has decreased manifold.
Sanjay a farmer from Lam informed that advisories and help rendered by KVK in linking with market have made their enterprise a profitable business.
Others who attended the Sammellan were Dr. Vikas Sharma, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Dr. Abhay Sinha, Dr. Vishal Sharma and Dr. Parul Gupta. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Suraj Parkash.
