LTTE failed in Sri Lanka, terrorists in Kashmir will also fail
In Leh, Guv Malik rejects autonomy, warns terrorists

Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 12: High voter turnout in Jammu and Ladakh has created a novel situation in the country with the Narendra Modi Government toughening its stand on separatists and half-separatists and warned terrorists and militants to reform themselves or abandon the cult of terror failing which the state would come down heavily on them.
Jammu and Ladakh have witnessed polling in the civic elections held in two phases between 78 and 70 per cent, as against a paltry polling percentage of 3. The high turnout in Jammu and Ladakh and virtually no polling in Kashmir have sent a message across the world that terrorism is confined only to certain parts of Kashmir, which remained at the helm of the affair all through barring the periods when J&K was under the Governor and President rule, and that Jammu and Ladakh were, and continue to be, intensely pro-India despite the fact that the people of these two regions have suffered gross discrimination at the hands of New Delhi, Indian political class and Kashmiri leaders of all hues. Besides, the voting pattern in Jammu and Ladakh has upset the Kashmiri applecart and created a situation that has weakened their hold not just on Kashmir bur also on Jammu and Ladakh.
That the massive turn out in Jammu and Ladakh has emboldened the Narendra Modi government to adopt a tough stand against separatists and half-separatists like Mehbooba Mufti, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah could be seen from what J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik on Thursday said in Leh.
Accusing political parties and separatist organizations of "telling lies and selling dreams to the people of Kashmir for last 50 years on the name of autonomy, independence and Pakistan", the Governor, Satya Pal Malik told them in unambiguous terms that "nothing such will happen as India is a superpower and none can break it". "The militancy hasn't succeeded anywhere," he said, and cited example of Sri Lanka's Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) to sent out a strong message to the militants that "most powerful and committed organization like LTTE, which had its own helicopters and Navy, didn't survive".
The Governor was addressing a function on 30th anniversary celebrations of `SECMOL' at Leh on Thursday morning, his first visit outside Kashmir region after taking over as the Governor on August 25.
What the Governor said was not just very significant, but it also indicated the direction to which wind was blowing in New Delhi. What he said was the view of the Government of India and there should be no doubt about it. The Governor's words during the Governor Rule in Jammu and Kashmir are the words of the Government of India.
It was not the first occasion when the Modi Government indicated its revised approach towards Jammu & and Kashmir. It gave its first indication on June 19, when the BJP withdrew its support to Mehbooba Mufti government. It was followed by the removal of Governor NN Vohra. He was in Delhi when SP Malik took over as Jammu & Kashmir Governor on August 25. And the third indication that the Modi Government meant business in J&K was the declaration that the civic polls would be held as per schedule.
