The slain militant has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Dar while as the identity of injured militant has not been revealed by the police so far. Authorities imposed curfew like restrictions in Pulwama town and some other places in order to quell protests from people.
A police spokesman said that police and security forces in the early morning hours today launched a cordon and search operation in Kangan area of district Pulwama based on credible inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
"During the search operation militants fired on the search party leading to an encounter. In the ensuing encounter one militant was eliminated. "In this operation, no collateral damage took place besides incriminating materials including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter. Moreover, one suspect who was part of a same terror group that was engaged in encounter at Pulwama has been admitted to a hospital in Srinagar with a bullet injury," said the spokesman.
