2 soldiers injured in Pak shelling, firing from small arms; schools along LoC in Jammu region shut

Jammu, Nov 20: Two soldiers were injured after Pakistani troops fired mortar shells and from small arms on areas along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch and Rajouri districts, prompting authorities to close schools in some places.
Pakistani troops resorted to mortar shelling and fired from small arms on places in Poonch sector's Figwar and Malti areas. One shell also landed in Poonch town, officials said.
One army man suffered injuries and was hospitalised, they said.
In another incident Pakistan army today resorted to heavy unprovoked shelling / firing in Kalal area in Nowshera sub division of Rajouri district in which a soldier was injured.
Sources said that the soldier was targeted by the snipers of Pakistan army and two bullets hit him on the face. He was airlifted to Udhampur command hospital.
Injured soldier has been identified as Sepoy Rahul T V of 54 RR and was manning the forward area Lehran in Lam sector when he was hit by bullets fired from across the LoC.
At about 7.30 am, Pakistan Army's Mujahidin and Baloch Battalions resorted to heavy shelling /firing on Poonch town and in Degwar, Malti Ajot and other areas manned by Nagas.
Poonch inhabitants said that after few shell landed near the Brigade HQs in Poonch, tension gripped the entire town and schools near LoC were closed.
Indian army retaliated the firing / shelling effectively and soon silenced the enemy guns.
Worth mentioning that for the last few months Pakistan army has been targeting Indian forward posts with sniper rifle shots and in the month of November three Indian soldiers have attained martyrdom on the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts.
Sources have not denied presence of BAT members opposite to Poonch and Rajouri districts waiting for an action against Indian soldiers.
Following the ceasefire violations, schools in several places along the LoC were shut for the day, they said.
These include schools in Degwar, Ajote, Malti and Karmara areas, they said.
