The Awardees of Kargil Gorav Award 2018

At the evening of 1st of Sep 2018, the Sarhad Pune organized an event in the memory of Kargil War 1999 at Kargil , J&K in which thousands of people including men and women from local as well as people from different parts of India participated. In this event; the sarhad dedicated the Kargil Gorav Award for exemplary contribution of the following personalities to the nation and society. The awardees are (i) Rtd. Lieutenant General Rajendra Nimbhorkar. (ii) Shamsher Hakla Poonchi (iii). Rajesh Raina. The details of the contribution of the awardees of Kargil Gorav Award: for nation and society are as follows:
(1) Rajendra Nimbhorkar was commissioned into 15 Punjab regiment in 1979. He has served in an operational Leh & Kargil districts, Kashmir valley, Poonch, Rajouri, Rajasthan and North east India. He has held various command positions including 15 Punjab in Jammu and Kashmir; an infantry brigade Nowshera; Rashtriya Rifles; General Officer Commanding (GOC), Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa; GOC-in-C of XVI corps (Nagrota) in 2015 before taking over as MGO at army HQ. he has served as a UN military observer in Angola. He was also appointed on 1 March 2015 and only the second Maharashtrian after Lt General Throat to hold the post. Nimbhorkar was critically injured during operation Vijay on line of control in Rajouri sector, commanding 15 Punjab. He also captured an enemy post in sector of Dras, Kargil J&K as a captain and he killed 22 terrorists in Baramulla district of Kashmir as a Major.
During his career, Rajendra Nimbhorkar has been awarded COAS Commendation card; C-in-C SFC Commendation card; Sena Medal (gallantry) commanding sena medal (gallantry) commanding a company in sector of Dras Kargil J&K; Sena Medal (distinguished service) commanding a brigade in Nowshera; Vishisht Seva Medal in Akhnoor sector; Uttam Yudh sewa medal in Nagrota; Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in south Kashmir and Param Vishisht Seva Medal as Master General of the ordinance. He also hold the distinction of having received an award at each level of service and only serving officer to get the maximum number of gallantry or distinguished service awards.
(2) Shamsher Hakla Poonchi S/o Wazir Mohd Resident of Village Bandichechian, Tehsil Haveli Distt. Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir state born on 19 December 1972. He belongs to Muslim Gujjar community. Shamsher Hakla Poonchi a prominent Gujjar leader, Scholar, Writer, Philosopher and an intellectual of (J&K) has done a lot of social works without any personal interest with dedication, sincerity and honesty. He has rendered excellent services for upliftment of down trodden section of society and for the noble cause of poor strata of the country. He has strengthened communal harmony among different communities. He has always promoted the national integration and secular character of the country.
Shamsher Hakla Poonchi specially regards to issue pertaining the Gujjar community not only in J&K but in other parts of country as well, through speeches he has been stressing on the promotion of patriotism and communal harmony. He has played a very important role for the cause of national integration and rendered his services in fighting terrorism. He through his debates, speeches, which he made in every nook and corner of the J&K state arranged to inculcate sense of responsibility among public in order to leave the wrath of cruelty and brutality.
Shamsher Hakla Poonchi has written a large no. of articles and papers relating to the Gujjar History & Culture and Gojri language and also on difficulties & problems of the Gujjar Bakarwal community published through the national and regional print media and also broadcasted on the electronic media.
Shamsher Hakla Poonchi played a vital role in developing the Gujjar Bakarwal community of J&K educationally, socially, politically & economically. He always highlighted the problems and difficulties faced by the Gujjar Bakarwal community of J&K by keeping their problems in front of the govt. at time and he worked a lot to solve their problems and also worked for the promotion and upliftment of Gojri language spoken by Gujjar Bakarwal (Scheduled Tribe) community of J&K.
Shamsher Hakla Poonchi is a "Hero of the Gujjar Bakarwal community of J&K State".
(3) Rajesh Raina is the group editor of news 18 Regional Channels previously known as ETV Network. A journalist with more than 2 decades of experience in Television, he has played a pivotal role in Regional News growth story of ETV News Network. He is an avid reader & he has also written many articles in Hindi, Urdu & Kashmiri languages. His contribution to a fading art form of Kashmir" Kashmiri languages. His contribution to a fading art form of Kashmir" Ladishah" has been recognized by many in J&K. he writes this Ladishah segment every week which is telecast on News 18 Urdu on every Sunday in 7 PM Kashmir News bulletin.
He has been with the ETV group of channels, from 2001 & prior to that worked as an Anchor at DD-Kashmir. He has got many awards and accolades in India and abroad for his outstanding contribution in Journalism.
