Jammu, Dec 9: Director Agriculture Jammu HK Razdan today inspected the on field activities at seed multiplication Farm Chakrohi. He also reviewed the status of land preparation/sowing operations along with farm mechanization, drainage, irrigation channels in view of the ensuing Rabi Crop Season. Quality production of Foundation and Certified Seed of Basmati, Mustard, Wheat, Toria & barseem are being undertaken at Chakrohi farm. Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs), Jammu, KS Sambyal, Joint Director Agriculture (Extension), Bulesh Zutshi, Deputy Director (Central), Jagmohan Bhat, Chief Agriculture officer, Jammu, Narinder Misra accompanied him during the visit. Interacting with the Farm Officers and staff Razdan said that all efforts should be made to increase the seed production at the departmental farms to ensure the supply of seed produced in the local conditions with required quality parameters. Issues like shortage of field staff, fencing of farm boundary also come up during the discussion. Farm Manager, Chakrohi, Sanjay Anand apprised the Director that with the steps taken to improve the farm mechanization and water use efficiency, seed productivity and production at the Farm. During current Rabi season an area of 590 acres under different varieties of wheat, 70 acres under oilseeds and 100 acres under fodder is being covered. |
