Kashmir centric politicians in no mood to mend their ways | Seek release of anti-national elements to keep themselves relevant | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 25: As the Government is tightening noose around the anti-national elements in Kashmir, their sympathizers are trying to come for their rescue. The crackdown against the separatists and the radical elements in south Kashmir has led to the so-called mainstream politicians issuing different statements seeking release of the arrested Hurriyat, Jamaat and Jamait-ul-Ahal-Hadees (JAH) activists. During the past few days National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party and other leaders of the Kashmir centric parties have been castigating the Governor's administration for arresting the hardliners, whom security agencies believe are responsible for indoctrinating youth and pushing them towards picking up the guns. "Activists of Jamaat and other groups arrested during the past few days have been instrumental in orchestrating protests near the encounter sites and brainwashing the youth, who have turned rebels," said a source. He said that "Governor's administration woke up only after 40 CRPF men were martyred in a terror attack at Lethpora on Srinagar-Jammu highway. Had the Governor Malik not remained soft towards terrorists situation would not have taken such an ugly turn. It seems now the Governor has realized that the only way to deal with terrorism and the terrorists is to hit them hard. The government going after the Hurriyat, Jamaat and JAH activists is a clear indication that the people at the helm have realized that these people are real trouble mongers and are responsible for turning youth into terrorists." An insider revealed that after the Pulwama attack Ministry of Home Affairs is overseeing the security affairs of the state and has passed strict instructions to the security agencies to deal with the terrorists and their sympathizers with an iron fist. "The people at the helm have got it conveyed to the Kashmir centric parties not to indulge in theatrics at this point of time as tough decisions have been already taken," he added. "Many Kashmir centric politicians are claiming that in 1990 many leaders were arrested but situation didn't change. These leaders need to be told that at present situation is worse than 1990 and if they make too much of noise they too could also end up in jail," said an analyst. He said, "Before taking any decisive action Pakistan the government has to set those elements right who have propagating Pakistan's cause in Kashmir. First we have to deal with the enemies within us and then wipe out the external threat." |
