Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 27: India on Tuesday avenged the martyrdom of 45 CRPF jawans in Pulwama on February 14 through "Surgical Strike 2" deep inside Pakistan at Balakot and across LoC at Muzaffarabad and Chakoti. That it was a successful surgical operation could be seen from the fact that all our pilots returned safe to India after causing immense damage to the terror infrastructure in Pakistan and across LoC belonging to Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad JeM), which was responsible for the Pulwama massacre, which outraged the entire nation, nay the whole civilized world.
Reports say that IAF eliminated over 300 Jaish terrorists. However, what was more significant was what the National Security Advisor (NSA), Ajit Doval, told the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) in New Delhi. He revealed that "up to 25 top commanders of the JeM have been eliminated in the operation" The meeting was carried out following the 26 February early morning IAF strikes on terrorist apparatus deep inside Pakistan.
Not just this, Doval also revealed that the "destroyed target was not an ordinary terror launch pad or a base, but it was a virtual garrison." Doval asserted that "the terrorist apparatus at Balakot had been set up with help from the Pakistani Army and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)".
He further stated that "the presence of so many JeM commanders in one place was part of a number of desperate steps taken by the ISI in the aftermath of the international condemnation of the attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama".
Earlier, Indian Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said that the "pre-emptive strike was necessitated as there were reliable intelligence inputs of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) was training more fedayeen suicide attackers for terror strikes against India". He had also revealed that "the terror camp was being operated under the command of JeM supremo Masood Azhar's brother-in-law Maulana Yusuf Azhar, who is a terrorist on the lookout list of the Interpol".
The killing of over 25 Jaish commanders is being construed by New Delhi as a major victory over Pakistan and all the more because the air strikes also left "a few close relations" of Masood Azhar.
