Simula Club lifts 6th Baisakhi Cricket Cup

JAMMU, April. 13: Simula Cricket Club trounced Parade Cricket Club by 10 wickets in a easy contest, lifted the titled trophy and Dr.Ashok Bhan Former DGP and Member Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board distributed the trophies among winners and runners up teams in the valediction function of 6th Baisakhi Cricket Cup which was been organized by Vishal Cricket Club in collaboration with Police Department at Parade Ground Jammu. The slogan of the tournament was “let’s celebrate Baisakhi with Love and Joy through T20 Cricket” .
Dr. Ashok Bhan Former DGP and Member Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Katra was the Chief Guest while Ranjeet Kalra Cricket Promoter and RK Bhat SSP were the Guests of Honour.
The event conduct committee includes SSP R K Bhat, Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting Officer, Rajesh Dhar Sr. Cricketer, Vijay Saberwal, Ashish Singh, Sanjeev Mahajan, Sudhir Singh, Saleem ur Rehman, Madan Mohan, Sunil Sambyal and Anand Tripathi. The participated teams include Road Safety Department, Parade Sports Club, KC Sports Club, Simula Club, Horizon Club, GF Club, Singh Club Akhnoor and Vishal Cricket Club. The Sponsors of the championship were M/S Horizon Group of Industries and Jammu Wine Traders Association.
Rajesh Gill Chief Prosecuting officer & Organizing Secretary of the Tournament presented welcome address and apprised the Chief Guest that the main objective is to save the young generation from the drugs abuse, to promote sports culture and to provide them a platform so that their energy can be channelized in a right direction and they can live a healthy life.
The Chief Guest Dr.Bhan Former DGP while speaking on the occasion lavished all praise for the organizers Police department and Vishal Cricket club for conducting cricket tournaments regularly on major festival by involving the young cricketers from all walks of the society. He said that it is a great initiative by the department to provide platform to the youths so that they can exhibit their sports talent. He also advised the participating players to love the cricket game from heart, work hard and tried to get place in IPL team and bring laurels for the state.
Ranjeet kalra also spoke on the occasion greeted the finalists teams for their out standing performances in the tournament. He also conveyed his best wishes for their bright career in cricket.
Earlier, in the summit clash, Parade Sports Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 99 runs for all wickets in 16.4 overs with Dhruv Mahajan 31 runs, Rohan Koul 20 and Ateev Saini 17 runs. Sahil was the pick of the bowlers who took 4 wickets,Kuldeep took 3 wickets while Ritik and Akash took 1 wicket each.
In reply Simula Club chased the target in 12.1 overs with out losing any wicket thus won the match by 10 wickets. Puneet 62 runs and Hinan 21 runs were the unbeaten batsmen from simula eleven.
Puneet was adjudged man of the match in the final match, Sahil Sharma of Simula declared Best Bowler, Nipun was declared Best Batsman whereas Akash Choudhary was declared man of the series award for alround performance in the tournament.
The final match were officiated by Ashok, Dyal and Jannu. While the proceedings of the Valediction function were conducted by the Rajesh Dhar, Famous Cricket commentator.
