Three held with poppy straw | | | Rajouri, June 3: Jammu and Kashmir police in Rajouri district foiled a bid to smuggle poppy straw and arrested three persons along with the said narcotic substance in Thanamandi area of the district. A team of police headed by station house officer Thanamandi Javed Malik along with jawans from special operation group was on routine vehicle checking duty when a Tavera Vehicle with registration number JK04B 6109 coming from Srinagar towards Rajouri was stopped at naka point and put to thorough physical frisking. During frisking, 1.5 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered from the possession of three persons boarding in the vehicle who include Rangeet Singh son of Mulkeet Singhb resident of Sangherha Burnama Punjab, Mohammad Altaf son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Chirar-e-Sharif Budgam and Mohammad Farooq son of Abdul Rashied resident of Badakanna Thanamandi. All the three persons were arrested and the vehicle seized on the spot. A case FIR No. 95/2019 under sections 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at police station Thanamandi and investigation of the case is going on.
