Rajouri: BDOs defy HC, other orders on MGNRGEA men | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 3: Defying High Court's orders, many Block Development Officers (BDOs) in Kalkaote did not allow the disengaged GRSs, TAs and MIS Operators to continue. According to documents available with Early Times, the High Court had in August 2018 stayed government's order of disengaging several dozen officials engaged under MGNREGA. The High Court in its interim order had said that subject to objections and till next date before the bench, status quo with regard to the service of the petitioners shall be maintained. The authorities, while responding to court's order, passed orders to BDOs to continue the petitioners (GRSs, TAs and MIS Operators), but same could not be implemented. For the re-engagement of GRS/TA/DEO/MIS/others under MGNREGA, the officials wrote to the BDOs of Dhangari, Doongi and Rajouri and Kalakote vide letter number R/2018-19 dated November 3, 2018. The disengaged GRS, TAs and other officials had been engaged in the light of MGNREGA guidelines. "They were also engaged by the competent authority", sources said. "To ensure that atleast one GRS is deployed in every Gram Panchayat except in GPs where demand for works under MGNERGA is almost non-existent, more than one GRS be deployed in GPs that have labour potential and GPs with scattered and habitations and tribal areas. State should ensure that at least three computer operator-cum Accounts Clerk are deployed at the block computer centre", these are the part of guidelines for engagement under MGNREGA, as provided by disengaged officials. They claimed that in Kalakote block despite their engagement, various posts were vacant in violation of the MGNREGA guidelines. "We repeatedly requested the BDO, but no one is bothered about it", they said and added that their case was pursued by former BDO Haq Khan, but due to his death it could not reach its logical conclusion. "However, his successor, who joined in March this year made us wait, and subsequently got modified her transfer orders within two months", they said and added that they would again knock the doors of court. |
