Lack of civic amenities make life miserable in Sec 13 & 14
Munish Gupta's mass contact campaign reaches Guru Nanak Nagar

Early Times Report
Jammu, July 25: Basic civic amenities are still a distance dream for residents of Guru Nanak Nagar's sectors 13 and 14 and they accused the formers BJP and Congress MLAs for overlooking their problems. However, all the leaders before election promised us that all the problems would be resolved, but nothing has been happened so far, locals told Munish Gupta.
Munish Gupta, Editor Early Times who would be contesting upcoming assembly election from the Gandhi Nagar constituency as independent candidate on Thursday interacted with residents of lane no 1 and 3 of sector 13, Guru Nanak Nagar and heard their problems that were ignored during the previous dispensation.
During the mass contact campaign, the residents of lane no. 1 and 3 criticized the hollow slogans of former MLAs either of Congress or BJP overall development of the locality and basic civic amenities in particular. They said that the former MLAs not delivered a promise what they had promised during the election, resulting of which, their locality roads turned pathetic, drains choked and even overflowing water of nearby nalllah is entering into their houses whenever rains comes.
Narveen Kour residing at the entrance of lane no. 1 of sector 13 informed Munish Gupta that their lane is not repaired or blacktopped since last 14 years. However, our lane is already congested while its drains aren't covered with steel grills. The potholes developed on the road and dilapidated drains posing threat to walkers but nobody seems bothered about it, she said.
Karan Singh and Gulcharan Singh said that on one hand lanes are dilapidated and on the other hand, all the streetlights have gone defunct and not were repaired despite repeated pleas either telephonically or online. "However before election, the local councillor had promised us, the safaikaramchari would be deputed on regular basis but proved as merely a lip service. The residents even dumps their garbage along the drains due to absence of bins", said Mandeep Kour.
"The sewerage nallah bifurcating sector 13 and 14 has created havoc and gives sleepless night to residents of lane no 1 of sector 13. First it emanates foul smell due to not cleaned or desilting by concerned authority since long ago and second, whenever the rain happed, its overflowing water gushed into the houses", said Dalbir Kour and added that few months back, the neighbor raised the embankment of the nallah on its own expenses so that the overflowing water should be avoided and some of the residents raised makeshift wall in front of their entrance or gate to protect themselves from sewerage overflowing water.
The locals told Munish Gupta that now they were upset and disregard from the hollow slogans of Congress and BJP leaders, made during the election but not a single promise has been executed on ground level and in upcoming election they would take account of their performance in upcoming election.
