Early Times Report

Jammu, July 30: Our locality on the verge of getting washed away during rain, many stretch retaining walls on the bothsides of the drains had washed away, now the flood will certainly damage our houses and shops, the residents of the Rajiv Nagar told Munish Gupta during his mass contact programme this morning.
Munish Gupta, who will be contesting un-coming assembly elections from Gandhi Nagar constituency and has been meeting the people since May this year, on Tuesday visited Rajiv Nagar. Hailing his door to door campaign, the residents promised to vote for Munish this time.
The residents Ramesh Chander Datta, Balbir, Om Parkash, Shama Devi, Premlata, Veena Devi, Gyan Singh, Shahid Iqbal, Rehan Malik, Ishtyaq Ahmed, Bashir Ahmed, Haji Imtiyaz, Abdul Hamid, Imran Khan, Parkash Singh, Pardeep Singh, Anil Sharma and many others raised several issues regarding, drains, streets, road, water supply and electricity issues with Munish.
"On the north side of the locality, there is hill and slightly sliding towards the locality, we demand a retaining wall to be built here to avoid any damages to our houses", the residents said, adding that on the sought direction of the locality a major drain goes through, though it is seasonal but, gradually it has become a major threat to adjoining houses and the shops. "At several places, the drain has been damaged and washed away, but unfortunately, nobody is willing to listen us", the residents said, adding that road in their locality has also been damaged years back, but no bother to re-built it.
They residents said that apart from these issues, PDD's electricity bills with huge amount even beyond one lac rupees have turned nightmare for them. "Most of us, very poor we can't pay these bills even by giving our entire monthly income, the department officials, arbitrarily sent huge bills", they said.
Contrary to Prime Minister's SBM, district administration claims of being 100 percent open defecation free many families in the area are waiting for toilet. "I'm pursing my case for last one year to get built a toilet, and time and again I have submitted my case, but till date nothing has been done so far on the part of administration", said Om Parkash. Munish assured all the residents to highlight the issues of area. "I will leave no stone unturned to serve you I voted to power", he promised.
