Early Times Report

Jammu, July 30: Editor Early Times, Munish Gupta who would be contesting upcoming assembly election from the Gandhi Nagar constituency as an independent candidate today conducted door to door campaign in Guru Nanak Nagar's sector 1 as part of his mass contact programme.
Carrying forward his campaign, in lane no. 6, 7,8,9 and 10 of sector 1, he met with people of all walks of life and gave patient hearing to their problems confronting them. He also put forth his vision to contest upcoming election before the masses and assured them all the problems would be resolved after gets elected from the constituency.
During the campaign, the residents informed Munish Gupta him that recently, the Public Works Department (PWD) blacktopped all the lanes of sector 1 of Guru Nanak Nagar but only lane no 1 left without blacktopping, the reasons best known to authority concerned. "However, the authority concerned has assured that soon, the left lane would be blacktopped but after passing of one month, nobody come forward for blacktopping", said Santosh Kumari residents of Lane no. 1.
Gopal Dutta said that last time our lanes were macadamized nearly two decades ago but now the department once again macadamized some lanes but drains are still unconstructed, streetlights turns dysfunctional.
Besides, the sanitation issues is still major concerned for residents so far. The safaikaramchari dumped all the garbage in the entrance of lane no. 1 during morning hours. However, dustbin has been installed near the Shiva Chowk, resulting the foul smell emanating from the garbage engulf the whole locality especially the morning walkers, said Sanjeev Malhotra.
"The PDD department had raised three electric poles just front of our gate, only one has been used to channelize electricity but remaining were lying idle. However, we repeatedly asked to PDD department even by forwarding written representation for removing of two electric poles from the entrance of house but nothing happened so far", said Sanjay Bhat of lane no 9.
Suman Gupta and Chanchal Gupta informed that most of streetlights were lying dysfunctional and regarding them, they complaints to authority either telephonically or online, but nobody come here to restore them. "Before election, the local Corporator who came here with former MLA Kavinder Gupta asked us that all the civic problems would be resolved just after the election but after more than 10 months they failed to deliver what they promised before election", said Balvinder Singh.
He further said that all the drains are maintained on its own expenses and even at some junction, the steel grills have been damaged and become a threat for walkers but the authority seems unbothered about it. It shows that the tall claims made by all the leader before election are just rhetoric.
