ACB registers DA against Range Officer, conducts search at Doda, Kishtwar

Jammu, Aug 26: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today registered disproportionate asset (DA) case a Range Officer of Forest Division Kishtwar and conducted raids at various places.
According to official spokesman, ACB has registered a case against Altaf Hussain Shah, the then Range Officer Forest Division, Kishtwar in a case for accumulating huge moveable and immovable assets quite disproportionate to his known legal sources of income.
"A case under FIR No.06/2019 u/s 5(1) (e) read with section 5(2) J&K P.C. Act. Svt 2006 was registered against him in Police Station Anti-Corruption Bureau Doda and investigation was taken-up. The cognizance into the matter has been taken on the basis of a verification which revealed that the suspect is in possession of a double storey house at Suid Dacchan", the spokesman said.
He added that accused had constructed two more houses one three storied house in W.No.13 Akhyarabad Kishtwar near bus stand and another double storey house at Jalalabad, Sunjwan Jammu.
"It has been established in the verification that suspect officer alongwith his son namely Imtizaj-ul-Hussain were convicted in BOPEE case registered by Crime Branch Kishmir having paid an amount of Rs.22,00,000/- as illegal gratification for managing a seat illegally through BOPEEs entrance examination for admission of his son in MBBS", he added.
The spokesman said that the suspected person also purchased a Santro Car, a Motor Cycle as well as a Scooty. "The expenditure incurred by him in acquiring these assets and the balance amount of his bank accounts were found much more than the legitimate income, earned by him from all known sources of income during his service period i.e with effect from 1980 to Feb-2013, as such, the assets so found in possession of Altaf Hussain Shah are disproportionate to his known sources of income", he added.
The ACB team after obtaining search warrant from the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Doda teams were constituted and deputed to conduct house search of the accused public servant at Suid Dacchan Kishtwar, Akhyarabad Kishtwar and Jalalabad, Sunjwan Jammu respectively. "During search, incriminating documents, cheques and Pass books related to the case were recovered and seized", he added.
